“WHO IS THE LAST ELIJAH MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE?” – BROTHER ERANO G. MANALO @ JERUSALEM MARCH 31, 1996 SUNDAY – GIDEON

But this time things are set right and enlightenment on the same subject is made available through this article in his own writing. Because it is inappropriate to hang the truth in a cloud of uncertainty and leave the faithful in confusion. It is imperative to offer the truth in due time so that it dwells comfortably in the mind and spirit of the elected. Hence, providing the impetus that moves their heart and mind to share it to others as a gesture of love and concern for them. WHO IS THE LAST ELIJAH MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE?

 

In Jerusalem during the year 1996, our beloved Bro. Eraño G. Manalo officiated the special worship service that heralds the return of the Church of Christ in Jerusalem. It was expounded in that lesson outlined by Bro. Eraño G. Manalo, that our Bro. Felix Y. Manalo, messenger of God in these last days, was the fulfillment of the prophecy regarding the coming of Elijah.

 

This is written in Malachi 4:5-6 … 5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes. 6 And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the land with a curse.” (The true church is called an offspring … daughter of Zion and Zion is the Church of Christ).

 

For we know that the first century church was apostatized but it is not lost completely, there is a remnant – the seed which is the daughter of Zion. This is also a church, Zion, and also Jerusalem according to Bro. Eraño G. Manalo …

 

The prophecy has been fulfilled and after the apostasy of the first century church, according to the purpose of God the true Church of Christ reemerge on July 27, 1914 to be HIS dwelling place. The good fortune of its members is in upholding the true worship that is acceptable to the Lord God. The fulfillment of this prophecy was through Bro. Felix Y. Manalo, the instrument of the Lord God to reemerge the true Church. The restoration of the true Church of Christ with the true and righteous service and worship of the Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Acts 3:20-21 … 20 and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you – even Jesus. 21 He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

 

This is the work of Brother Felix Y. Manalo, restoration of all things as appointed by the Lord God. This will be accomplished by HIS messenger who has the same spirit and power as that of Elijah, the prophet who will restore all things. But, how could it be? Isn’t it that he died on 1963? Therefore he was unable to accomplished his work “to restore all things”. So how is it now? Does it mean the prophecy is not correct, because he was unable to restore all things? He initiated it, yes. The work has begun but it is not completed.

 

Whose work will the messenger uphold? Isn’t it the work of the Lord God? Whose work is uphold by Brother Eraño G. Manalo? Is this different from the work uphold by Brother Felix Y. Manalo? Did he established another work or another church for that matter when the messenger died? Or is it only the continuation?

 

It is very clear … the work of the last messenger remains and Brother Eraño G. Manalo merely carry on when he left us. Therefore, this is included in the work of the third Elijah. Any of us too, being human may suffer death. But, the work of the messenger will not die with him. The restoration work will not die. This work continues!

 

According to the prophecy, in this work of restoration to be led by God’s messenger in these last days as the third Elijah who will restore all things. Is he alone in carrying this work, who will be with him to restore all things?

 

Jeremiah 30:21 … 21 Their leader will be one of their own; their ruler will arise from among them. I will bring him near and he will come close to me, for who is he who will devote himself to be close to me?’ declares the LORD.

 

This only means someone will spearhead this work, that is Brother Felix Y. Manalo, he begun this work. But what if the leader was laid to rest? Who will carry on if the leader is gone? Will there be a replacement of their leader (last messenger)? There will be another ruler or administrator. The same as the title Executive Minister. Isn’t it that Brother Eraño G. Manalo succeeded Brother Felix Y. Manalo? He is the elected Executive Minister that continue leading the Church of Christ.

 

What will be the role or function of the Executive Minister in this work for the third Elijah?

The work of the third Elijah is now passed on to him .. TO CARRY ON, TO CONTINUE OR TO FINISH this work to restore all things.

 

Is he also elected? Or maybe just like what others are simply doing for themselves “SELF-PROCLAIMED”. Maybe he elected himself or just favorably chosen by his colleagues with respect to their rank.

 

… their ruler will arise from among them. I will bring him near …

Who appoints him?

 

Jeremiah 30:21 NAB ... when I summon him, he shall approach me; how else should one take the deadly risk of approaching me? Says the Lord…

 

… when I summon him, says the Lord

… he shall approach ME. … this only means there is no self-imposed assignment here … Brother Eraño G. Manalo does not volunteer for this work.

 

The Lord God summons him, the same as calling him,.. to approach ME.

 

Therefore the election will go on, it will not be lost, it does not cease upon the death of the last messenger, the corporeal body of the last messenger has been buried. The soul dies, but his work (for this is God-given) – this work is passed on to the next leader, the Executive Minister, also elected by the Lord God to carry on with the work to restore all things.

 

But we all know, even Brother Eraño G. Manalo was laid to rest. Did he completed the work of Elijah that he carried on? It is not yet finished.

 

Therefore the election goes on, it did not vanish, it is not buried together with the last messenger, nor with Bro. Erdy. The corporeal body of Bro. Felix Y. Manalo and Brother Eraño G. Manalo were both buried. Their souls died but not the work of Elijah, the spirit and power of Elijah is passed on to HIS chosen one. The elect is trusted by the Lord God to carry on the work to restore all things. Hence, this work of ELIAS ARKANGHEL, granted to proclaim the admonition and forewarning of the Lord God is truly the work of our Lord God.

 

HOW CAN WE BE SO CERTAIN? During the time of our late Bro. Erdy, was he granted the undestanding to interpret and explain the mystery of Prophet Daniel’s dreams. No, it remains a secret. But now … now through divine intervention the mystery concerning DANIEL’S PROPHECY was revealed. Who was granted this revelation? To the chosen one, elected by the Lord God Himself. He was also endowed with guidance from the Holy Spirit. He is the servant of the Lord God who will carry on this work of Elijah …

 

The spirit and power of Elijah the prophet, is upon ELIAS ARKANGHEL. The same way it was granted to the messenger in these last days and passed on to Brother Eraño G. Manalo. Being the chosen of the Lord God he will continue this work to restore all things before the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has with him the spirit and power of Elijah who restore all things and turn the hearts of His people back.

 

But wait, maybe you will ask. What about the Administration of Bro. Eduardo V. Manalo? Isn’t it that he was placed to administer the Church after Bro. Erdy was laid to rest? BUT HERE COMES THE SIGNIFICANT QUESTION. LOOK AT THE CHURCH, DID THE NEW ADMINISTRATOR SET EVERYTHING IN ORDER? We are all living witnesses to the present status of the Church. There is so much confusion, corruption and destruction in the Church. HENCE HE DID NOT POSSESS THE SPIRIT OF ELIJAH? ISN’T IT THAT HE ALSO NEED RESTORATION?

 

Isn’t it true that according to the Bible on the second advent of our Lord Jesus Christ the church that will meet Him is pure, without blemish or spot, unlike the present condition which is in ruins. Therefore the present administration does not have the spirit and power of Elijah who will restore all things. Hence, because of the Lord God’s love for us, HE chose another one, HE sent HIS elected to replace Elijah and continue the work of restoration in HIS Church.

Like the teaching handed to us by Bro. Eraño G. Manalo, this is the will of the Lord God to pass on the spirit of Elijah to HIS chosen one. So that the work of restoration will go on.

 

II Kings 2:9 Moffat … 9 When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Before I am taken from you, ask me for something.” Elisha answered. “Let me fall heir to your spirit.”

 

II Kings 2:15 NIV … 15 The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, “The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

 

What will be the role or function of Elijah before the second advent of our Lord Jesus Christ? Let us read from the bible …

 

Matthew 17:10-11 … 10 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 11 Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things.

 

Matthew 17:11 TEV … he will get everything ready.

 

Matthew 17:11 LB … set everything in order.

 

Matthew 17:11  Jerusalem … see that everything is once more as it should be;

 

Why will he restore or set everything in order? Because the Church is already taking a wrong turn … and it has inclined prominently … but the Scripture guarantees it will not be apostatized again … as promised, God will not allow the Church to turn back again. Hence, the need to restore all things.

 

Who can assure and testify that the coming of Elijah before the second advent indeed has been fulfilled? The Lord God who will also commission him.

 

Brother Elias Arkanghel has introduced himself attested by the Holy Spirit. We should trust him and cast away our doubts. He can not understand and explain the prophet Daniel’s dream without the help of the Holy Spirit. However wise and clever a man is, without the Holy Spirit no one will be able to explain it.

 

Are you still in disbelief? If you have it in your heart, you are already disputing the will of the Lord God. I urge you then my brethren. Read and comprehend the admonition and forewarning written in IGLESIA NI CRISTO … HINIRANG, the blog of Brother Elias Arkanghel. But refrain from any malevolent thinking against him, because it has been proven for a number of times that those who antagonize him and think bad about him suffer unexplained misfortunes in their life. If you long for peace .. follow his admonitions that were all written in the Bible. Turn around while you still have the chance and opportunity. The Lord God does not want you to perish. What HE want is for the faithful to be saved, hence, HE sent another Elijah in the person of Elias Arkanghel to assume and continue the work of the third Elijah mentioned in Malachi 4:5-6 … 5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes. 6 And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the land with a curse.”
